Variety history and description

White filling has already celebrated its 50th anniversary. Bred in the mid-60s by breeders of Kazakhstan, it quickly conquered the hearts and beds of summer cottages due to its special taste and fertility. "Parents" - tomato varieties Victor Mayak and Pushkinsky.

According to the description of the variety, the determinant White filling is considered a low-growing (up to 70 cm in a greenhouse, about half a meter in the open field) ultra-early cultivar with a ripening period of fruits from 100 to 115 days.

The leafiness of the shoots is average, there is no need to break out the stepsons. But experienced gardeners are advised to remove axillary shoots to the first brush in order to accelerate the ripening of the fruit.

Leaves are medium in size, rich green, slightly corrugated. The inflorescence is simple or intermediate, the number of fruit set is from 3 to 6 pcs. for each brush. Fruit clusters are formed every 2-3 leaves, the first one above the sixth or seventh.

Tying bushes with a powerful root system is not necessary, but if summer is issued without weather troubles, a large number of fruits are tied, and then the White filling is tied to supports. It is also advisable tie bushes in areas with strong winds.

The variety is cold-resistant, patiently tolerates drought and other natural surprises.

The purpose is universal, that is, they are equally suitable for salads, cooking hot dishes, canning, which is quite rare for early varieties.

State Register (since 1966) variety White filling 241 is recommended for greenhouses and unprotected soil in the Northern, North-Western, Volgo-Vyatka, Central regions, as well as Western Siberia, the middle Volga. In practice, it is grown on personal farmsteads, dachas and small farms throughout the Russian Federation and the post-Soviet space.

Half a century of popularity is explained by the following list of positive qualities of the variety:

  • early ripening of the first fruits;
  • good yield indicators;
  • high commercial characteristics;
  • no need to form bushes;
  • even fruiting regardless of summer weather;
  • amicable ripening of the first third of the crop, then ripening is extended in time until the second half of August (depending on the region and planting date);

Features of agricultural technology

In general, the agricultural technology of tomatoes White filling does not differ from the cultivation of other early varieties.

The timing of sowing seeds varies depending on the region:

  • Central region (including the Moscow region) - mid-March;
  • Northern regions, the Urals and Western Siberia - the last decade of March and the beginning of April;
  • North Caucasus, Lower Volga - end of February and early March.

Also in the south, direct sowing of seeds in open ground is often practiced from the second half of April to early May.

Seed preparation is carried out in the traditional manner. After calibration, they are disinfected, germinated, hardened.

Special attention is paid to the disinfection of the seed, since the immunity of the variety is not high enough.

The soil is prepared according to the standard procedure. Sowing in a seedling container is carried out in grooves spilled with water to a depth of 10 to 15 mm with a step of 20-30 mm.

The temperature regime before germination is maintained at room temperature. With the emergence of seedlings, cooler conditions are required: 15-16 ° during the day, at night two or three degrees lower. On the 3rd or 4th day, the temperature regime is restored. Maximum illumination is required, with additional illumination up to 12 hours a day.

Seedlings dive in the phase of two true leaves.

Watering should be moderate. Top dressing is introduced when the growth of seedlings is slowed down. Mineral complexes are used, diluting them strictly according to the instructions. Fertika Lux mixes are best suited, Agricola, "Sudarushka" intended for tomatoes.

If the instruction is silent about feeding seedlings, the nutrient solution is made halved in concentration.

White filling grows slowly. By the time of planting, the height of the bushes does not exceed 20 cm. The stalk should be plump, strong, ideally, the first flowers bloom before the transplant.

Planting is carried out according to the usual rules, taking into account the compactness of the bushes: in the open ground, 10 pieces are allowed on each square, in the greenhouse - 5.

Care of planted tomatoes

Care method - traditional:

  • Moderate watering, which is stopped when the fruit begins to turn red. The water consumption rate is 2.5 liters per bush when irrigated twice a week.
  • Top dressing is carried out twice. First time - in two weeks after planting seedlings to a permanent place: they are fed with an organic-mineral mixture. The second feeding - two weeks later - also consists of organic matter and mineral complexes.
  • The formation of a bush is not necessary, only those stepchildren who block the sun's access to ripening fruits are removed.

Hilling is not necessary, but when the rudiments of aerial roots appear, it is carried out, increasing the yield.

Young plants can be affected by macrosporiosis. To prevent it, sprinkle with infusion of garlic and hot pepper, serum, iodine is used.

The main part of the harvest ripens before the period when the fungi are activated, which greatly simplifies the care of the White filling. If the summer is rainy, cool, the beds for prevention are treated with home remedies or biological products.

Gardeners about the variety

Reviews of summer residents involved in the cultivation of tomatoes are mostly positive:

Marina, Moscow region: I grow white bulk tomatoes in the open field, they please with amicable ripening, good harvest. Unfortunately, you have to process so as not to get sick with late blight. A decoction of onion peels is enough.

Elena, Irkutsk: I have been planting a variety for over 10 years, tomatoes ripen quickly and amicably, good taste.

Nina, Yekaterinburg: I form bushes into two stems. The return is high. Although summer is not always auspicious, unripe fruits ripen well at home without losing flavor.

Ivan, Novokuznetsk region: White filling has deservedly occupied my place in the greenhouse for over 20 years. Even at the very beginning, when I did not know anything about growing tomatoes, the variety never let me down - it didn’t get sick, it gave a good harvest.

A negative opinion about the variety is a rare phenomenon, usually associated with the characteristic of taste - not everyone likes the slightly sour taste of the pulp.

Undemanding tomato White filling, its easy adaptability to external conditions are perfect for summer residents who visit their "lands" only on weekends.Modest needs and excellent returns have been the reason for the popularity of the variety for more than 50 years, although there are many decent hybrids that compete in yield. Simple farming techniques make the variety available for growing by beginners.
