So that your work does not go to waste, you need to know how to plant and grow green crops correctly so that they give a lot of delicious greens.

There are two types of parsley: leaf parsley for vitamin greens and root parsley for soups, pickles and marinades. To taste the spicy leaves earlier, you can plant the seeds in late autumn, before the first snow. Then, as soon as the ground thaws, you will see the shoots that appear. There are several other ways to speed up the appearance of the herb.

  • Seedlings appear faster in a sunlit area.
  • Soak the seeds in a damp cloth for a few days and sow when they begin to germinate.
  • Insulate the sown bed with foil or covering material.

If all sunny spots in the garden are occupied, you can grow parsley in a shaded area. Too bright rays are undesirable for harvest: the leaves quickly turn yellow. The best option is to plant herbs under trees or bushes. In the spring, until the buds have blossomed, the bed will be well lit, and then the lush crown will protect the plants from the hot rays. On the table, parsley and dill go well, but there is no friendship between them in the garden. If both crops are sown side by side, neither one nor the other will yield a good harvest. First, keep it in warm water for three days, changing the liquid every 6 hours. Then spread the seeds on a wet cloth, cover them with wet sawdust and store at room temperature for several days until the roots begin to hatch. When you see several sprouts, dry the seeds. It is advisable to prepare the site for planting in the fall. Dig up the ground, apply organic and mineral fertilizers. You can immediately sow seeds to a depth of 3.5 cm and mulch, they will germinate in spring. Planting can be postponed until April. Do this work every day, uproot a few bushes and eat the twigs. The dill will grow, and you will gradually free up space for it. The same must be done for parsley: for root development, the distance between plants should be 10 cm, and for leaf varieties - 15 cm.

With a lack of moisture, dill quickly forms a stem. The inflorescence baskets will be useful for soups and autumn preparations, but the greens will lose their tenderness, and there will be few branches. The same thing happens when the planting is too dense. Water the plants to keep the soil moist at all times. Top dressing for this culture is usually not required, it has enough nutrients laid down during the construction of the garden. If you notice that the branches turn yellow, apply nitrogen fertilizers.

To enrich your winter diet with vitamins, grow parsley and dill on a windowsill in flower pots. For this purpose, you can collect fertilized garden soil or purchase soil in the store. Sow in several stages at intervals of 2 weeks.
