How and what to feed blooming strawberries - the best feeding for a capricious berry
You can feed strawberries in spring and during flowering with both purchased preparations and those made at home. All dressings must be alternated.
General information
The appearance of the first flower stalks of garden strawberries falls in late spring (early-late May), or early summer (early June). At this time, the berry needs a large amount of potassium.
During the flowering period, a second top dressing 9 is carried out both by spraying and by root method). The main tasks of the procedure:
- provide the berry with an influx of necessary elements;
- prevent various diseases;
- disinfect the soil;
- activate the formation of fruits.
For information
The first time you need to feed the berry is when it starts to grow, and the first leaves begin to appear.
Features of root feeding
When the fruits are set, the following types of fertilizers are used:
- solution of ash and chicken droppings (can be replaced with mullein) - 0.5 l of the main ingredient is dissolved in 10 l of water;
- ammophoska - the fertilizer contains sulfur, phosphorus, calcium and nitrogen. Recommended for independent use, but it is also allowed to add it to the compost mixture. To prepare the solution, it is necessary to dilute 1 tbsp. l. ammophoska in 10 liters of water. Consumption - 0.5 liters per 1 bush;
- potassium nitrate - a solution is prepared by mixing 1 tsp. fertilizers and 10 liters of water. Consumption - 0.5 l of solution for 1 strawberry bush.
Features of foliar feeding
This procedure involves processing strawberry leaves. The main types of fertilizers:
- 0.02% zinc solution (sulfate) - the product saturates plants with microelements and helps to form ovaries;
- boric acid - the solution is prepared from 1 g of the product and 10 liters of water. Such feeding increases the number of inflorescences.
Mineral fertilizers
During the flowering period, you must use the following options:
- urea + ash - the composition disinfects and saturates the plant roots with the components it needs. 20 g of the main ingredient is mixed with 200 g of boric acid and ash. Then 1 pinch of manganese is mixed into the composition. All components are added to 10 liters of water. With this solution, it is necessary to water garden strawberries at the root;
- ammonia - protects strawberries from weevils, beetles, and other pests. 40 ml of the product is mixed with 10 liters of water and used for root feeding;
- nitrophoska - 60 g of the product is mixed with 40 g of potassium and added to 15 liters of water. Consumption - 0.5 l of solution for 1 bush of garden strawberries;
- manganese - 1 pinch of the product is mixed with the same amount of boric acid and potassium sulfate. The solution is used to treat strawberry leaves. Particular attention should be paid to their bottom.
Finished fertilizers
When the strawberries are in bloom, you can fertilize them with "store" means. The best drugs:
- GumateEM... The product helps to increase yields. Against the background of its use, the plant's resistance to weather fluctuations is normalized, and immunity against various pathologies also increases. To prepare the product, you need to dilute 1 cap of "HumateEM" in 10 liters of water.
- Slox-Eco... The composition of the preparation, which is intended for the care of garden strawberries, contains an extract of horse manure, which is obtained by fermentation. The tool helps to restore damaged strawberry roots, as well as to stop the effects of parasitic damage.Irrigation occurs on both sides of the leaves. Before watering, you must dilute 1 cap of the product in 25-30 liters of water.
- Baikal EM-1... Microbiological fertilizer that improves soil fertility. The strains of beneficial microorganisms contained in the preparation activate the activity of beneficial microflora and accelerate the formation of humus. This solution is allowed to water only wet soil. It is necessary to dilute the product in proportions of 1 to 1000. Consumption - 1 watering can for 0.5 acres of strawberry bushes.
- Humisol-super... Complex organic fertilizer based on biohumus. Intended for foliar and root dressing. In the latter case, the solution is diluted in proportions 1:50, for foliar feeding - 1: 100.
Advice
Repaired strawberries need to be fed every 2 weeks. For this, the listed purchased products are suitable, as well as humates, yeast starter culture, green fertilizers or humus.
Folk remedies
You will have to spend time preparing them, however, the means are no worse than purchased ones. Their main advantage is that, based on the composition of the soil and water, as well as the needs of strawberries, the gardener can slightly increase or decrease the percentage of one or another ingredient.
Ash solution
It is recommended to use the ash recipe to ensure a good harvest.
Main ingredients:
- ash - 1 glass;
- potassium permanganate (it is advisable to use potassium permanganate specifically for plants);
- boric acid - 0.5 tsp;
- iodine - 15 drops / 10 l.
Instructions:
- Pour a glass of ash with 1-1.5 liters of boiling water.
- Insist for 2-3 hours. This is necessary in order for the water to draw out all the trace elements from the ash.
- Dilute boric acid in a separate container (a 0.5-liter can is best for this). Volume - 0.5 tsp. for 50-100 ml of hot water. Stir until completely dissolved.
- Dissolve potassium permanganate. For this, a separate container is also used. 0.5 tsp it is necessary to fill in 0.5 liters of water. The solution should be dark in color.
- Collect 10 liters of water in a large bucket.
- Pour in a manganese solution, mix thoroughly. The desired shade of the solution is dark pink. If it turns black, there is a risk of burning the strawberry leaves.
- Then pour in the dissolved ash. If there are coals at the bottom, they do not need to be thrown away.
- Add boric acid solution. Mix.
- Pour in 0.5 tsp. iodine. Mix thoroughly again.
Boric acid is the key element in this recipe - it is boron that promotes the formation of ovaries and strengthens the peduncles. Thanks to this, the yield increases by about 30-33%.
The second important component is potassium permanganate. It is a potassium fertilizer and at the same time it disinfects the soil well, kills various fungal diseases.
Advice
If you plan to spray the leaves, then the ash solution needs to be well filtered.
You need to feed the bushes depending on their size. If the plant is small, then 1 glass of solution is enough, if it is larger, then the consumption is 0.5 liters.
You need to water from above - on the leaves and inflorescences. This is necessary in order for the strawberry bush to receive adequate nutrition - both under the root and on the leaf.
Mother liquor
For those who have large beds of strawberries, it is recommended to prepare a stock solution of ash. For this you need:
- Pour a 2 liter can of ash into the bucket.
- Pour in 10 liters of hot water.
- Mix thoroughly and leave for at least 24 hours. Experienced gardeners are advised to insist the solution for 72 hours. In this case, the water will be able to draw out all the trace elements from the ash.
- When the mother liquor is infused and ready, you need to take 1 liter of the product and pour it into a 10-liter bucket of water.
- Add potassium permanganate, boric acid and iodine to the same bucket.
Feeding strawberries during fruiting
During the fruiting period, the following fertilizers are used:
- Cow dung. In 1 bucket of warm water, you need to dissolve 2-3 kg of manure, insist for 3-4 days. Then pour 4000 ml of the prepared infusion into a 10 liter bucket.Consumption for 1 bush - 0.5 liters.
- Compost. Dilute 1000 g of rotted fertilizer in 1 bucket of water.
- Chicken droppings. Dissolve 1000-2000 g of droppings in 1 bucket of water, leave for 48-72 hours. Then dilute 1 part of the finished infusion in 10 liters of water.
During fruiting, when the berries are formed and ripen, it is strictly forbidden to use chemicals. Otherwise, the strawberries will absorb and accumulate dangerous toxins.
Before feeding, be sure to spill garden strawberries with plain water.
Competent feeding will increase the yield, but more importantly, it will support the bushes, protect against exhaustion and reduce immunity. So next year the strawberries will be ready to bear fruit again.
and will be published shortly.
