A new variety of large raspberry tomatoes is in demand among tomato lovers. History and description of the variety

The variety was produced by Novosibirsk breeders in 2007. The agrofirm "Siberian Garden" has launched the production of seed material for Babushkin's secret. According to its properties, it is a large-fruited tomato belonging to the salad species.

The plant develops, gaining green mass throughout the growing season, i.e. indeterminate. This is a powerful bush with a not very spreading crown. In parallel with growth, several tiers of ovaries are formed and a crop is formed. Harvesting is carried out on average after 110 days from the day of germination.

Description of bushes

In greenhouse conditions, Babushkin's secret stretches up to 2 m in height, and in the beds - no higher than 1 m.The average growth of a bush in greenhouse conditions is 1.5 m. pronounced wrinkles. Simple inflorescences are located on the trunk, at intervals of 2 leaves. The lower bunch of tomatoes is formed above 8 true leaves.

5-7 large tomatoes develop on each inflorescence. It is recommended to leave 8 inflorescences or less per plant. In this case, the fruits will be large and will ripen within the period indicated on the package: 120 days from sowing. The variety is considered medium early. In the greenhouse, with sufficient care, gardeners were able to get a maximum of 8 kg per bush.

The root system of the plant is powerful, branched, grows over a long distance close to the soil surface. Such a rhizome allows you to get food for growth, even in dry periods.

Description of tomatoes

The fruits are large, flat in shape, rounded, with distinct ribs on the body. The average weight is 300-350 g, but the weight of the first, lower ovary tomatoes reaches 700 g, the minimum fruit diameter is 100 mm.

There are few seeds in 3–6 chambers. The skins of vegetables are smooth, firm, but very tender. Ripe tomatoes are bright crimson, and unripe tomatoes are light green in color. There is little liquid, the bulk is juicy and sweet pulp of a beautiful raspberry hue. Acid is practically not felt, the pulp contains many useful substances and elements.

Vegetables are not suitable for canning or making tomato juice. Used for vegetable salads, lecho, adjika. Tomatoes do not tolerate long transportation, and the shelf life of vegetables is limited.

Several cultivation features

Let's highlight several rules for growing large tomatoes of the Babushkin secret variety:

• the optimal time for planting seed for seedlings is the beginning of March;
• grooves are made in the boxes, 20 mm deep and then the seeds are evenly distributed;
• from above, the grains are covered with a thin layer of loose nutrient soil, the container is closed with glass;
• the optimum temperature in the greenhouse is 22-25 ° C;
• sprouts begin to dive when the first paired leaf germinates;
• after 40-50 days, the seedlings are transferred to a permanent place, but in a week they are fed with a balanced ready-made nutrient solution;
• the plant is necessarily stepson and when it reaches a height of 1500 mm, the top is pinched;
• only one trunk with inflorescences is formed on the bush;
• tall specimens need support and tying up.

All other operations are similar to the cultivation of other varieties of tomatoes. The minimum amount of root dressing is 3: 1st - a week after transplanting, then before flowering and during fruiting. But it is allowed to spray weakened bushes with a ready-made nutrient solution over the leaf.

With the constant cultivation of tomatoes in a greenhouse, it is recommended to disinfect it with any fungicide solution, and the ground with a strong manganese solution. The soil in the greenhouse should be loose and light. It is recommended to mix river sand, turf soil and manure in equal proportions, fill the hole with this mixture.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Babushkin secret variety

The positive qualities of tomatoes, according to tomato lovers, include:

• large fruit size and yield level;
• high and fairly early harvest, tomatoes are poured already 100 days after planting in the greenhouse;
• good taste;
• ability to resist pests and resistance to most diseases of nightshade crops;
• development and fruiting throughout the warm period, up to the first frost;
• long juiciness and freshness while creating optimal conditions;
• develop normally in temperate climates, suitable for open and sheltered beds.

Among the disadvantages are:

• in case of non-compliance watering rules and poor ventilation in the greenhouse, tomatoes can become infected with fungal diseases;
• the bush develops non-stop and therefore requires tying and pinching;
• excessive watering and untimely harvesting can cause the tomatoes to crack directly on the bush;
• cracks can appear with a large difference and temperature drops.

The last 2 points are controversial disadvantages of the variety. Under normal conditions and caring for tomatoes, cracking does not happen.

Grandma's secret is not the newest, but quite young and has won the trust of gardeners variety. A tall bush requires care: tying, pinching, pinching.
