All ways to get raspberries out of your garden forever: from uprooting to chemicals

Content

How to get rid of raspberries on the site forever? Young shoots that have appeared recently can be dealt with by fencing the site. Old bushes are destroyed by uprooting. Chemicals are also used.

Why difficulties arise

In case of untimely and improper care, raspberries grow rapidly, and within several months they fill the area. Carrying out gardening work is significantly complicated.

Raspberries in the garden

The plant is notable for its "vitality", and it is difficult to take it out of the garden forever: shoots are formed even from a small piece of root left in the ground.

The best methods of dealing with raspberries:

  • fencing of the site;
  • uprooting roots;
  • use of drugs.

To enhance the effect, it is desirable to use a combination of several methods.

Fencing the site

This method is relevant in the event that raspberries grow on the site from the side of neighbors living nearby.

Fencing the site

To make a special fence you will need:

  • insulating material (rubber tires from a car or slate sheets);
  • cordon of plants.

Advice
Roofing material should not be used: it is very fragile, and raspberry roots easily break through it.

What to do:

  1. The insulating material is buried to a depth of 600-700 mm. In order to surely eliminate the risk of raspberry roots penetrating, a distance of 100 cm deep is permissible.
  2. The trench should be dug along the fence. The slate is placed vertically. It must first be divided into 3-4 parts. Do not leave any holes, otherwise the raspberries will again penetrate the site.
  3. Additionally, it is required to create a reliable cordon from bushes of garlic, parsley, corn or sorrel. Raspberries do not tolerate such a neighborhood, and do not pass through these plants. Young shoots are afraid of "green fertilizers" - siderates.

Uprooting

This method involves digging up the site. This should be done at least 2-3 times to destroy the small raspberry roots. Uprooting is carried out at any time of the year, before the ground freezes. The first digging is required immediately after the snow melts, the second - at the end of spring and early summer.

Raspberry on the site

The process looks like this:

  1. Cut off the tops of the raspberries with a pruner (you can replace it with a hatchet). Distance - 150-200 mm above the ground. This makes it easier to pull out the roots.
  2. Dig deep into the area.
  3. Select roots manually.

If the owner of the site does not plan to plant plants in the area under the raspberry tree, then after digging it is recommended to add table salt to the soil.

This should be done in the fall, before the onset of frost. The salt is evenly distributed over the surface. Layer thickness - 0.5 cm. This is a radical way. In the future, this site cannot be used for growing plants.

In order to exclude a relapse, it is necessary to periodically dig out any growth that forms in the treated area.

If a neighbor's raspberry is formed on an empty spot of the site, it is recommended to mow it with a trimmer. In order to prevent it from growing, a few mows are enough. In the new gardening season, for prevention purposes, the procedure should be repeated 2-3 times.

The use of drugs

It is necessary to fight overgrowth with the help of "chemistry" when other methods do not give a positive result. Etching is carried out 2-3 times.

Raspberry bushes

The procedure looks like this:

  1. Dig up the site, remove the roots.
  2. Cut the plants as close to the soil as possible.
  3. Process the cuts of bushes and soil.

The most powerful drugs:

  1. Alaz. Desiccant and universal herbicide of continuous action.It penetrates into plants through the leaves and is transferred to all parts, including the root system. Death occurs within 5-30 days. Symptoms of herbicidal action: wilting of leaves, their yellowing and browning.
  2. Tornado. Universal herbicide of indiscriminate systemic action. Helps block the synthesis of aromatic amino acids. This leads to the defeat of growth points. Both the aboveground and underground organs of raspberries gradually die off. This drug has no effect on seeds. Symptoms appear on days 4-30.
  3. Agrokiller. A universal preparation for weeds with a high content of active ingredient. Effective against shrubs. Penetrates into leaves, stems and roots. Yellowing begins 48-72 hours after treatment. Death - in 15-20 days. To enhance the effect, the drug "Adyu" should be added to the solution.
  4. Glyfovite. New generation herbicide. The main active ingredient is an inhibitor of the enzymatic system, which is responsible for the synthesis of aromatic amino acids. It penetrates to the root system of the plant through its aerial parts. The death of shrubs occurs against the background of blocking of enzymatic processes.

All herbicides should only be used in dry, sunny weather.

Weed control preparations

Security measures:

  • chemicals must be used with great care, because they penetrate the roots. Raspberry shoots have a common root with the mother bush, which can grow from neighbors or be “desirable” for harvest;
  • if processing is carried out during fruiting, then the berries will contain elements hazardous to health;
  • the hazard class is indicated on the herbicide packaging.

For information
Some summer residents recommend using Roundup. This is a very powerful drug that is banned in some countries.

Raspberries are incredibly tenacious and creeping plant, but they are not immortal. Approaching the matter systematically, you can completely and permanently remove unwanted growth from your site.
